Celebrating Success Roundup

The RPB Team has been attending and supporting some amazing events over the past few months:

Wonderfest

On Saturday 7th September, members of Cardiff and Vale Regional Partnership Board’s Starting Well team took part in Wonderfest. The event, which was hosted by third sector organisation Platfform, was a free wellbeing festival for young people at the Grange Pavilion in Cardiff. It was great day, with lots of free activities for young people. The RPB team were able to speak to young people about their ideas for how we work together in partnership, and made some great connections with other organisations who attended.

Welsh Government RPB Conference

The Regional Partnership Board Team attended the Welsh Government Conference for RPB’s on the 16th September in Sophia Gardens. It was an excellent day, giving RPB colleagues the chance to come together, network and share best practice. The opportunity to share and listen to the innovative partnership work being done within Regional Partnership Boards across Wales was invaluable, and we were very proud to share our resources and achievements.

Healthy Lives Event – 26th October

Cardiff and Vale Regional Innovation Coordination Hub, in collaboration with Eastern Vale Primary Care Cluster, offered patients in Eastern Vale unprecedented access to free health assessments and advice at this community centred healthy lifestyle event in Penarth. The aim of the project was to implement health
prevention strategies and give healthy lifestyle advice aimed at targeting the root cause of ill health before it has taken hold. Patients were also offered direct access to services that would normally need GP referral, including blood pressure, cholesterol and pre/diabetes screening.

The event encouraged new collaborations in the community bringing together primary care, secondary care, allied health services, third sector organisations and local businesses with the aim of addressing the determinants of health as road-mapped by the government’s adopted Labonte model, ensuring equity of healthcare to all those who live within the Eastern Vale Cluster locality aged 18 and over.

Carers Rights Day – 21st November 2024

The RPB was proud to support the 2024 Carers Rights Day held at Penarth Leisure Centre on 21st November 2024. The theme for the day was ‘Recognizing your rights’ and one of the key activities was for the young carers, in a bid to help them recognise the rights which many of the adult in attendance also completed helping them improve their awareness of their rights.

There was a CAVUHB Occupational Therapist there to collect information for her clients who ended up self-identifying during the event while she did the carers rights activities realising she is also an unpaid carer.

It was an incredibly successful day, with a great deal of information being shared with unpaid carers from across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.

Launch of the UHB’s Plan for Children and Young People

On World Children’s Day, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board proudly launched the Babies, Children, and Young Persons Plan 2025-2035 at Cardiff City Stadium as part of our Shaping our Future Clinical Services work. This strategy embodies a bold vision for enhancing the health and well-being of babies, children, and young people in our community, developed with their voices at its heart. We are proud to have co-created this plan in close collaboration with those it is designed to benefit most. By working together, we’ve crafted a plan that truly reflects their needs, aspirations, and perspectives and we believe this collaborative approach will create services that bring about meaningful, lasting change in their lives.

Learning Disabilities Wales Event

The RPB was happy to have been part of the Learning Disability Wales Annual Conference in November 2024, hearing inspiring stories of ongoing work to make Wales a better place for people with a Learning Disability to live.
