The Cardiff and Vale community is invited to join a special event marking two years of the “Opening Doors” initiative—an inclusive programme championing healthier ageing and stronger community connections. The event, Opening Doors to Brain Workout, will take place on Thursday 7th August 2025, from 10:00am to 3:30pm at the India Centre, Cardiff (CF24 2AA).
Developed in partnership with Cardiff’s multi-ethnic groups and communities across the Vale of Glamorgan, the “Opening Doors” journey has empowered individuals through the Chai Club and other community-led engagement. This event will reflect on the progress made so far, honouring personal stories and highlighting the value of culturally sensitive support for dementia awareness and healthy ageing.
What to Expect on the Day:
- Heartfelt reflections from those involved in the “Opening Doors” journey and Chai Club
- Community performances and personal testimonies
- Information stalls from services supporting dementia and unpaid carers
- Opportunities to connect with local leaders and partner organisations
- Launch of new resources, including community language handbooks and a dementia prevention film
Attendees can also enjoy refreshments throughout the day, including tea, coffee, and a complimentary lunch.
This event is free and open to all, and your presence will not only help celebrate a vital initiative but also support the continued effort to promote mental and physical wellbeing through inclusive engagement.
