On 1 October 2026, partners came together at Sophia Gardens for the Cardiff and Vale Unpaid Carers Assembly, bringing together unpaid carers, young carers and organisations supporting carers from across the region.
The event was hosted by Voices Adfocad, an organisation established by former Cardiff and Vale Regional Partnership Board (RPB) unpaid carer representatives Bobbie-Jo Haarhoff and Mike O’Brien.
The Assembly provided a valuable opportunity for unpaid carers and partner organisations to connect, share experiences and strengthen collaboration, ensuring that the voices and experiences of carers remain central to the development of services and support across Cardiff and the Vale.
Launch of Caring Through Change
A key highlight of the event was the launch of Caring Through Change, a new partnership resource developed to support unpaid carers as they navigate changes and transitions in their caring roles.
The booklet provides practical information, advice and signposting to services and support available across Cardiff and the Vale, helping carers access the information they need at different stages of their caring journey.
Developed through partnership working and informed by the experiences of unpaid carers, the resource reflects a shared commitment to improving access to information and ensuring carers feel informed and supported.
Caring Through Change booklets are now available through local community hubs, libraries and GP practices across Cardiff and the Vale, with wider distribution planned.
The Assembly highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between unpaid carers, community organisations and statutory partners in shaping support that responds to what matters most to carers and their families.
