Developing an Integrated Community Care System across Cardiff and the Vale

At its meeting on 8 September 2026, the Cardiff and Vale Regional Partnership Board (RPB) held a dedicated deep dive session exploring progress towards the development of an Integrated Community Care System (ICCS) across the region.

The session brought together three key developments that demonstrate how partners are working collaboratively to deliver more joined-up, person-centred care and support within local communities.

Presentations focused on:

  • Llys y Goetre, St Mellons – Cardiff Council’s newly opened Housing with Care scheme, supporting people to live as independently as possible within their community.
  • Barry Campus Development – exploring opportunities to bring services together and strengthen integrated care and support in the Vale of Glamorgan.
  • Integrated Neighbourhood Teams – developing more coordinated, locally focused approaches to health and care, bringing professionals and services together around the needs of individuals and communities.

The presentations, delivered by Louise Bassett, Jason Bennett and Dr Chris Bryant, highlighted how these developments offer complementary opportunities to strengthen partnership working and create a more connected approach to care across Cardiff and the Vale.

The session generated valuable discussion among Board members, exploring how these initiatives can contribute to a shared vision for integrated community care.

The insights and discussions will help inform the continued development of the ICCS, supporting the ambition to deliver more coordinated, accessible and person-centred services that respond to the needs of people and communities across the region.
