The Cardiff and Vale Regional Partnership Board (RPB) team was delighted to take part in Wonderfest 2026, an annual festival organised by Platfform, bringing together young people, parents, carers and professionals to explore emotional wellbeing, mental health and the support that matters most.
Held at Railway Gardens in Splott during August, the festival offered a packed programme of activities, workshops and opportunities for meaningful conversations, with a focus on sharing experiences, building connections and promoting positive wellbeing.
As part of the RPB’s Starting Well programme, the team engaged with attendees to better understand their experiences, priorities and ideas for improving support for babies, children, young people and families across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
Through interactive activities, including a graffiti wall, participants were invited to share their thoughts on what matters most during the First 1000 Days of a child’s life, as well as explore what good emotional wellbeing and mental health support looks and feels like.
These conversations provided valuable insights into the experiences and perspectives of local people, helping to inform the ongoing work of the Starting Well partnership.
Listening to lived experiences is central to the work of the RPB. By working collaboratively with organisations such as Platfform, the partnership can ensure that the voices of young people and families help shape priorities, influence future planning and support the development of services that reflect what matters most to communities.
The RPB looks forward to building on these conversations and continuing to work alongside Platfform and other partners to create further opportunities for meaningful engagement.
