A mental health and wellbeing hub for young people aged 11–18 in Barry has expanded, increasing the number of young people it can support across Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan.
The Hangout, developed by Platfform in partnership with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, provides an accessible community space offering drop-in mental health support, scheduled one-to-one sessions and wellbeing-focused groups.
The recent expansion, funded by the Central Vale Primary Care Cluster, has created additional therapeutic rooms, a flexible space for group wellbeing activities and a quieter, sensory welcome area designed to reduce overwhelm and improve accessibility for neurodivergent young people.
Young people have also been involved in shaping the new environment, including contributing to its design.
The development is a positive example of partners working together to provide earlier, accessible mental health and wellbeing support within our communities.
Young people do not need a referral or prior appointment to access The Hangout and can drop in for support.
