Signposting and Crisis Response

Cardiff, Vale of Glamorgan

Cardiff, Vale of Glamorgan support Cardiff Council’s Independent Living Service and the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Contact 1 Vale. Both services exemplify the benefits that a single point of access to an array of partner-provided services can have for local citizens.

Ty Illtyd’s ground floor will see an expansion of the activities on offer for residents, a nursery and a new base for the GVS.

The first floor will have a sensory room which will be used by local children with disabilities on one day of the week by the Sunshine Club. On other days it will be available for the school’s use and outside groups.  Office space will be available for hire by self-employed lone workers, third sector organisations needing a base or health professionals needing a space to practice. The rentals from workspaces will provide valuable income generation for the Third Sector.

An older building, CF61 is currently being used as a vaccination centre by the local GP Practice. Until June 2019 it was the venue for a variety of community activities hosted by commercial and third sector providers.
